OpenAI-compatible API tasks run directly from the extension. No native host, Node.js or Cursor installation is needed. Choose Use an API key, select OpenAI or OpenRouter and paste your key, then allow that provider's origin. Other provider accepts a custom OpenAI-compatible HTTPS endpoint and model. Connection steps and troubleshooting.
The key is encrypted in this Chrome profile until Disconnect/Forget. Restarting Chrome restores the saved connection; old tasks never silently resume. If verification fails, check provider site access, model tool/image support, key and API balance. Connecting may use provider credit.
Cursor is an optional native path using com.bridgefold.host; public companion/bootstrap and native clean-machine qualification are pending. A missing Cursor connection does not block API mode. Try a demo is scripted and does not prove provider access.
